Patricia, the expert on hyacinth glasses, is unable to join us just yet, but asks me to apologise for her absence and promises to join us properly soon!
No. 2 then!
Based on a discussion I was having with her the other day then...it is currently believed that these glasses date from just after ww2. It seems that UK factories no longer made hyacinth and crocus vases, but retailers imported them from the continent, and that this rim is very likely typical of the factories in Belgium and Northern France.
It should also be said that the glassblowers in Belgium travelled back and forth to Bohemia in waves during the period, and designs were imported and exported along with them, so precise identification will be difficult to pin down.
There is a 'study group' meeting shortly on 'pressed glass /hyacinth vases' and perhaps Patricia will be able to tell us more details about yours in a few weeks time.
