Some more info about the tournament:

SKIM 1966, the Scandinavian International Amateur championships was arranged by the Jönköping-Huskvarna Golf club and  played on the Kättilstorp golf course between August 18-21, 1966.

The men's final was between two Americans stationed in Germany. Robert Unger and Barry Terjesen. Unger won by 2/1.

Annie van Lanschot (Holland) won the ladies final after beating Louise Johansson.

Hi Graaaal,  I mentioned to Tony earlier in this thread that if you look on the video, you see the spelling as SCIM, not SKIM.  Does this make a difference to your interpretation of the possible acronym do you think?

The tournament was known as SKIM with a K, but I guess the engraver could have made a spelling error, or they could have tried to make it sound more international with a SC for Scandinavia.

I find it unlikely that there would have been two competitions in the small town of Jönköping the same year, one called SKIM and the other SCIM.

And SKIM was won by an American, which would also explain how it ended up there.

You are the one that deserves the 'well done' Tony, for recognising quality and buying a very special piece of glass.
Good luck with all the rest of your glass collecting, perhaps you could post some pictures of your collection on our 'Show me yours and I'll show you mine' thread:

It would be lovely to see your collection. ;D

Hello Tony,
I believe the translation to be correct. Also judging from the pictures, the date code used on the vase is 207A - which means 1966 and matches the engraved text. You can find all the different date codes for Ariel vases here: http://www.glassfromsweden.com/how-to-date-orrefors/79-dating-swedish-glass/93-date-orrefors-ariel-glass.html
