Chihuly Seaforms
« on: October 11, 2011, 10:11:59 PM »
Hi. These beautiful pieces are not signed but came with a paper that read: Dale Chihuly Pimento Red Seaforms with Tar Lip Wraps. They measure 6'x9"x5" and 4"x6"x2". From what research I have done, it seems not all Chihuly is signed, especially when it is from a series. Do you think this is the case here? I would like to offer these for sale but am unsure how people feel about unsigned Chihulys, though I would imagine if it were made specifically for the intent to defraud, it would have a fake signature to go with the fake piece, yes? Thanks for any info!

Hi, I think your bowls are fabulous whoever made them  :hiclp:
It's very difficult to tell because your photos and the link I'm adding are taken in different lights, but I've attached a link of some DC Pimento Seaforms  - your bowls looks to be a different shape, but I'm afraid thats the only observation I can offer.  Someone will be along who I'm sure will be able to help more  :)  I do think it is worth contacting Dale Chihuly to get confirmation though especially if you are planning to sell them.  Scroll down on the link to the second pic down and if you click on it it will enlarge.

Does resemble the Chihuly sold by the Columbus Museum of Art gift shop during his year long exhibition from 9/98 to 9/99. I remember the larger pieces were around $500-$600 while the smaller stuff was under just under $350. I know they sold several thousand pieces.

I'm guesssing that 6 foot dimension (6'x9"x5") is a typing mistake and you meant 6 inches?

The URL below shows photos of some the glass at the year long exhibit in Columbus, but in my opinion it pales to seeing it in person as there were far more pieces there than the photos show. http://entertainment.webshots.com/album/7570947mygieJpjCn
