Art Deco Vase + 2 Mermaids (I think) ??
« on: October 13, 2011, 10:47:35 PM »
 :hi:

I got this large vase today at an Auction.  No Glow.....but does have a removable green glass Frog inside it.  Looks Art Deco to me and looks like there are 2 Mermaids on the sides.  I thought  they were just ladies, but then I noticed they have *fish tales*.     Size is about 8 inches tall.  The top opening is 10 inches by 7 inches wide.  Wear on the bottom.

Any ideas on age, or maker ??

Thanks as always  :kissy:

I don't know Rose but that is gorgeous  :hiclp: :hiclp:
I'll have a search around, but I'm sure someone will come along very quickly and be able to say what it is  :)

Boy that was Quick!!   Your Good !!!

I saw it at the Auction and wanted it.  I thought it would Glow, but it does not.  I paid a bit more than I wanted to, but then I wanted some Art Deco items here...and 1934 that is old.  Did Wayne's have a frog in them too?  So then it is my first piece of Walther and Sohne!!  According to his site it is called *Windsor*.

Boy, you guys are have such a vast knowledge.....and so Quick!!

Thanks a Zillion for the speedy reply!!

At least they have *some* clothing on...lol.   Yes big vase.  The opening lip width is wider than the vase is tall.   I was now looking around the net with the info you gave for the maker to see if there are ones that Glow.  I found the same mermaids by the same company (in a clock) and that one glows.  I really thought this would glow.......

  Assumed wrong again!!

The design is 1935ish but they were made for quite a long time and the newer ones don't glow. Here are Pamela's; I'm pretty sure hers is uranium.

Here is a catalogue page from 1952/3 showing your vase. VEB Saschenglas is what Walther became after the war. Yours is likely from them.

And also in the 1965 VEB catalogue from Pamela's glas-musterbuch site: http://www.glas-musterbuch.de/VEB-Sachsenglas-1965.73.0.html
