Topic: Can you help identify my Vase?

Hello

I have a Vase consisting of a mutltitude of colours from oranges, yellows, greens and blues with a white base. Within the glass are shiny bronze and silver areas and fine air bubbles. The vase measures 26cm tall and 61cm around its middle. This is a seriously heavy, solid piece weighing 4.5kg. There are no labels, marks or distinguishing features so any information offered will be highly appreciated.

Hi Hannah, welcome to the board.

Although I cannot help with the id of your vase, I would like to mention:

Instead of "size around the middle" most of us prefer diameter ("size across the middle"). With a quick and approximate mental calculation, I guess it is just under 20cm.

Your third image shows a different shape than the first, but my diameter calculation would suggest the first image gives the true shape.

Could we please also see a photo of the base - bases are important in many id queries

It is usually better to have a more descriptive title for a thread, but I have to admit that I would find it hard to come up with a brief yet meaningful title for this one - it's just so ... well ... colourful

Hi Hannah - my GUESS is probably Chinese origin maybe marketed as Murano.

The main reason I have replied is to do with manipulating photos for posting.  When you want to reduce the size of a photo it is important not to use the "handles" in the middle of the sides as that distorts the image always.  The handles on the corner may do the same used carelessly but most programs default to keeping the horizontal/vertical proportions correct.  Best id to use the "Resize" option in a program as that will preserve the proportions correctly.  You can use "Crop" followed by "Save" to chop off useless surrounding stuff.

Your best bet is to use a photo you have made multiple copies of and experiment with the results.  Your Photos are a tad small at c. 28Kb  You have up to 124.9Kb with a maximum dimension of 999 so don't make them too small - details is harder to make it if it is small.

Here are 4 photos illustrating some of the possibilities in the Microsft Office Picture Manager supplied with Windows Vista that I use for everything.  Getting the largest possible file (within range) is quite a trick but practice allows one to get close enough for BIG pictures.
