scandinavian? bowl? art object?
« on: December 10, 2011, 07:41:06 PM »
Hello all,
This is my first post.  I'm a long-time collector who has recently been looking at glass.  Now I'm of an age to divest, I need to identify what I have.

This is a heavy piece with a molded bottom and polished rim.  3 1/4" (8 1/4 cm) tall,  4" (about 10cm) dia.  I've looked around and not found anything similar.

 Thanks in advance, Adair

That base reminds me of Holmegaard for some reason.  Try looking in www.hardernet.dk adn if you have no luck Peter is worth an email to to confirm or deny if it is Danish.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I've looked there many times and if it is there, I've missed it.  The closest I've seen is "icebreaker" or Jaasarkija by Tapio Wirkkala which is similar.  Interestingly, I also have a clear cylinder vase with the same type of iceberg bottom, but again not exactly like either the bowl or T.W.'s icebreaker.

Hello,

I don't know if this is what's called a "bump", but I thought I'd add the pictures of a clear glass vase with a similar (but not the same) iceberg molded in the bottom.  The bowl piece is really beautiful, the blue layer reflects on the "iceberg" below as though it was a polar night.

Well, there have been 127 views of your post - your items are possibly very unusual (I say possibly because I haven't a clue!) which may explain why you haven't had many replies.  Some folks here will just be getting home from work and polishing off their tea - maybe after that you'll get something!  Good luck!

Also, it may be because there have been problems accessing the GMB http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,45829.60/topicseen.html
