Got one, tried it with hyacinths and it did not work, the openings are far too small and roots do not grow at an angle.
Which doesn't always mean that it was not supposed to be designed as such.
At times it would be nice if designers and glassblowers would try out what they create there where bulb vases are concerned.
May be it could be filled with spagnum (moss), which was an old time favourite, plant small bulbs on the bottom (say like daffodils) and have them grow through the 'holes' for support? That's just me fantasising though.
I use it for posies and bouquets now, the flowers arrange themselves nicely to the shape.
