Does anyone have any information on this piece? It is a very large beautiful plate that my Mother recently acquired. I have searched online for any information regarding it (so we can set a correct insurance value for it) and cannot find anything, anywhere about an art collection by them or any numbered items.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Is there an attachment with the picture of the plate?   I can't see it.    Ive been looking at nothing but P&P for days on end;  if there is something similar around its possible I will recognize it as something seen elsewhere. It's hand signed you say?

Sorry, I didn't take any photos while I was in front of it, but I will as soon as I go back over there. The plate ir very large in a nice padded box along with a card/certificate that tells all about it and how it is the first release of the "Art Collection" as well as being numbered xx/100 and is hand signed.

I'll post pictures as soon as I can for you. It's a really nice piece I'm thinking although it's odd to me that I can't find anything about it on the internet, nothing at all. Maybe it's just that rare, there were only 100 made...

Do you know who  signed it?

On the plate it is signed Peill & Putzler   '87   50/100

On the card it looks like "Pelzer" hand signed. Says Wilfred Pelzer is the sales director on the card and it looks like his signature.

I still haven't taken any pictures as my Mom has already put it up and every time I'm over there I forget to ask her to get it out.

I haven't forgotten and I'm VERY curious about this one now after finding another wrapped up but without a box or any card. Also, it is not a Hedgehog on it and nowhere near as elaborate. This one is just a bird with it's wings spread wide in the middle. I'm pretty sure the Peill number for this one is 34986 (all the new in box items I've found have a number starting with 3 on the label that describes the contents and name of the item). It was stashed with a LARGE amount of Peill Crystal I've discovered including another even larger looking plain plate (maybe a centerpiece type?) with the number 33281 written on the packaging. My Grandfather must have really loved this stuff. I have at least 50 pieces, maybe more, many still in the original boxes and packaging. Very exciting discovery.

I'm sorry I can't add much about the plate. Valuing German glass is difficult because the market is still forming. Peill from the 80s is generally less valuable than from the 60s/70s, but a limited edition item would still have some extra value. Ordinary larger Peill pieces like vases and plates vary in price (on ebay.de in Germany) between EUR 10 for the more common ones to around EUR 100 for the less common ones. Limited might have an extra premium, so my gut feeling is that you'd have to insure it for about EUR 200 max. That could change in future years, I think the market for quality German glass will get better in the future (someday when the financial crisis is over and done with).

And please, please, please can you help me as well?  I'm a Peill & Putzler vase collector, and I have a lot of trouble finding catalogues (none so far). If your grandfather had one or more catalogues stashed with his collection, I would happy if we could talk about me acquiring them or a scan of them.

If you have 50 Peill pieces in boxes, I'm sure some of them are vases and I'd LOVE to know the pattern name and pattern numbers of the vases at some point to compare them with what I have. Also knowing the approximate time they were acquired would help me a great deal (some of them apparently in the '80s).

I have more than 30 Peill vases by now, but from most of them I have no clue which decades they were produced or what the pattern is called (but you can have a peek if you're interested via de link in my sig).

If you're inclined to help me out, could you email me (email is available in my profile)?

Astrid

Wow, I do agree, Astrid!
There could be so much information here on identifying P&P accurately!

I have a few bits myself - mostly Schleiergraphit, but also an Unikat charger with those goldy sorts of black bubbles in it - like the cylinder vase you have as "possibly Horst Tusselman" - lost of clear glass at the top.

Also I have a small bowl, with the black mesh-like effect and a (very) few coloured inclusions - tiny bits of yellowy-green and red - I believe this is Horst Tussellman from '62.
(There's an image in Lesley Jackson's 29th century factory glass).

I've always thought P&P is under-rated and under-recognised. Its time will come, I'm sure. ;D

Unfortunately there was no catalog or anything like that. My Grandfather had a tendency to buy items in large lots whether it was from an auction, estate sale, flea market, someone needing money he knew, etc... so I'm assuming that it was all purchased together. The original boxes I have all just say Peill with the logo, no mention of Putzler on the boxes themselves, perhaps that could help us date the items? I do have I think 3 or 4 different types of vases, I'll get some better pictures of those for you as well as pictures of the plate.

That would be lovely, thank you! Thanks so much for taking the trouble!

I think what you describe is normal for Peill boxes. I have one, from the 90s or 00s I suspect since it says 'made in Germany' instead of West-Germany, and it only says Peill as well. I'll add the pictures. What I'm looking for is the Pattern names on the labels of the boxes. If any of your boxes have the same sort of label, which I'm fiercely hoping for, it would give me another pattern name and/or number to add.

As an example on the photographs, my box is of a "Laurin" vase, Laurin being the pattern name. The number of the pattern as you can see is printed above it, 27142. I have not enough pattern numbers to be able to date this vase through the number, but I eventually hope to guess the decade if I collect more pattern numbers.
