Blue Squat Chunky Bumpy knobbly vase ID Help please
« on: January 17, 2012, 04:08:11 PM »
This lovely little vase came in to the charity shop that I help in last week. The circular bumps protrude from slight depressions, lovely colour and base wear commensurate with 60s/70s/80s I would say.

Any ideas who made this piece would be gratefully received. I believe it is around 5 inches in height.

It might be from Kingsware, I know very little about the company but you should be able to find some info if you search the forums on Whitefriars.com.

I just spotted something very similar on this page: http://www.stylendesign.com/guidepages/archive/garchivemaster5.html

It does look very much like a whitefriars knobbly vase

Hi mate, pretty sure you know it's not Whitefriars, a link here to a Kingsware catalogue with similar knobbly style vases in a similar blue......

Great, thanks for the help.  :)

I did notice the similarity with the whitefriars knobbly, which of course being kingsware makes sense. It is certainly a nice piece of glass, very tactile.

There is another that looks a little bit like it...

Made by Liskeard glass. As far as i know they are all marked with an LG monogram to the base. I've never compared them before (been away from GMB too long) but it looks as though the rim is a lot thicker on the Liskeard one.
