Green Glass Bowl
« on: January 20, 2012, 07:36:23 PM »
Hello everyone, I recently bought this bowl in a local charity shop in Stockport, North West UK
I am clueless and a novice glass collector so please be patient with me  :)
I cannot see any seams so I don't think it is pressed glass and when I feel the outside, the design feels a little sharp so I am thinking it is cut glass
but am not completely sure
Anyway any info re: its approx age, type of glass and origins would be much appreciated

It's definitely not cut. There will be seams somewhere, probably running along the lines of the pattern and probably at least three. A base shot would be useful but datewise I would suggest something like 1950s rather than art deco.

Hello Penny,  welcome to the GMB.....what a lovely bowl.....I agree with Christine that it is probably pressed glass but a lovely quality.....have you searched Pamela's Pressglas-pavillion?
Here is the link.....

http://www.pressglas-pavillon.de/index2.html

You might just find your bowl there.....you will need a big cup of tea and plenty of time as it is a totally addictive site, and very comprehensive.... Enjoy!

Rosie. :)

Rosie, you're a star! I think I found it there in the unknown bowls & plates section, row 30 the very last one,  in a different colour glass but it seems to be the same pattern..I will keep an eye out there in case it becomes identified at some point
thank you to you both and maybe in a few years I can contribute here some more :0)

Oh Penny,  Don't leave it a few years!...we have a Café here as well as sections for helping identify glass,  so do pop by regularly......the list of queries at the top of the page that says 'Unread Posts Since Your Last Visit', is worth looking at almost every day.....not only might you be able to help someone with their glass queries,  but you learn so much that becomes helpful in itself.
