?? WEDGWOOD DUCK?? Help and advice appreciated please.
« on: January 25, 2012, 06:08:51 PM »
Hi all,  I have seen this duck for sale on eBay and have written to the seller asking if it is definately Wedgwood as I do not think it is.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120848485968

The reply I have received is:

"hi,thank you for your message, the reason i put it as wedgwood is because i have seen an identical one with a wedgwood acid mark with that model no. + the quality, i would be happy to keep it myself if it does not sell.can you tell me what makes you so sure it is not wedgwood without actually seeing it ?.kind regards "

I have a lot of Wedgwood pieces and have never seen one this shape,  am I missing out on a very special piece or is this not Wedgwood?

Any help would be very much appreciated.
Rosie.  :)

Hiya Rosie, I'd say Italian too, closest Wedgwood version I've seen is shown below (big differences):

Just googled that model number and came up with this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WEDGWOOD-STUDIO-ART-GLASS-L-SIZE-DUCK-PAPERWEIGHT-7-75-/260885921548

The "model number" is just the sellers own reference number, as all their other items have similar numbers.  I'm assuming this is where your seller got her information.  Not the best of pics to compare to!  ;)

Wayne,  you are a star....and you missed your vocation....should have been a detective,  but then I suppose in glass collection,  being a detective is essential....thanks a bunch.

I have now messaged the seller and invited him to read this thread and hope it will reassure him that his duck is not Wedgwood.  I have also suggested he might like to join the GMB so that he can learn more about the glass he is listing.
Thanks everybody for your help here.
