Big red Optical Bowl
« on: February 05, 2012, 10:26:06 AM »
Hello,
Im new to the board and I posted this question in Czech glass but i was advised to post here as im not certain of where it was made.

Can anyone tell me anything at all about this? age, maker? value?
Its 10" tall and weighs a ton,it has clear cut circles and these give an optical effect like a miriad of circles, its very pretty and i bought it from a local auction a few years ago .I have a very new glass collection, and this is a little large for my display cabinet. So , if im to sell it, i need to have some knowledge and value ,where better to ask than here!

Hello again,

I forgot to mention that it would be best to ask a moderator to move the original thread for you into the general glass section, rather than double-posting.  It's also better to attach at least one picture to the board rather than only have photobucket images as they tend to disappear.  But no worries... we were all new to the board at one time or another.

Your vase is an interesting item, and I do hope someone will be able to help identify the maker for you.  Once you've got a glassworks, and perhaps a designer, you'll be able to search the Internet to get an idea of value.  Valuations are normally not given here.

Also, sometimes IDs are made within minutes, and sometimes they take weeks, months or even years.  That's the exciting part of glass collecting. Be patient and enjoy.  The GMB is a lovely place for people with a passion for glass. :)
