Topic: Small glass scottie dog sold on Ebay - why such a high price?

This is a lovely wee item, but I was really surprised to see how much it fetched.  Can anyone comment on, apart from it being attractive, why bidders were going so high?

Does seem high to me but Scotties and Scottie related things are very popular.

I was very pleased when I sold a Wedgwood Scottie some years ago, not that it went quite that high.

It's funny you should say that Christine because when I first saw this wee doggie listed I immediately thought of Sue's cat, having read that post recently.  In a way I guess that's why I took an interest in it, and was even willing to bid a few quid on it.  When I saw the interest in it I thought it must be by a famous glass-maker or designer.  But now, looking at the bidding, there were only 2 bidders who seemed determined to get it, no matter what the price.  Maybe they had there own reasons (again, as I said, apart from it being and attractive piece).

It's Leni's cat now - but although the eyes are completely different, there is no cranberry flashing, this wee dug does indeed look related to the cat.

I believe there is a large collectable market in all things "Scottie dug"
