Colorful blown glass piece with name etched on bottom
« on: March 01, 2012, 03:08:34 AM »
I have this glass piece I found at a local thrift store.  I am wondering what it might be and who's name might be on the bottom.  I have pictures posted but let me know if there is anything else that would help. On the bottom, from what I can make out is Vetrum but not sure. Thanks

Could it be Venini?  A straight on phot like yours makews reqading the signature very hard as the internal pattern tricks thye eyes  better is to take the signature at a shallow angle so the base reflects light and the signature is dark.  Here are two photos to illustrate using a Kosta piece I own.

Hmm!  Looks more like "Vetri 87" now.  Try Googling "Vetri Murano" and you will gets heaps of stuff.  That may be what you need.

Ross.

PS>  When resizing for the GMB try and get you sizes up nearer the 120Kb size - we oldies see much better with large pictures.  To do that if you are finiding it hard to judge, make multiple copies with the original picture and resize to different levels, until one comes out near the limit.  Typically your result will be near 600 x 600 but may be larger if the colour is very plain, or less if the pattern is very strong.
