pressed clear bowl for identification
« on: March 05, 2012, 07:40:40 PM »
looks like something I should know - from the '70's perhaps - and reminds me of Ravenhead (British), although may well be Continental......but can't see it in the books.     About 8.5" in diameter, with very distinctive underside  -  and unmarked.   Grateful if someone can help, and thanks for looking. :)

And I believe designed by John Clappison iirc.  I have one of these, the perfect salad bowl  ;D

thanks girls  -  although I have seen the White Fire design in my book, and that has a sort of sun-burst centre design at the bottom on the bowl  -  completely different to this rather abstract patterning - were there two patterns?

I don't think it is White Fire, but I'm sure I was told it was a Clappison design.  I'll have a root around to find out where I got that.

I think it might be called Topaz - more info on this thread - but the id comes from Wikipedia it seems.

thanks m  -  suppose we might describe this abstract design as attractive  - although I have trouble in finding Ravenhead collectible in the long term.
The White Fire design I see much more commonly.          cheers.        Paul.

Well personally I hate the Whitefire and also that loggy barky type thing they did, but I absolutely love this bowl and think it is a superb piece of design and manufacture as well of being of very good quality .....does that help?  ;D
