unusual WMF ice bucket
RAY:
this was the only piece of glass i got from Egypt this time, measures 5" high and 5" across, it made to look like ice, the rim and handle are of heavy silver plate in the art deco style, it's stamped WMF but it's is worn, the surface is very rough and looks like bits of glass were thrown on to the surface before in went in to the mould for the second time, looks like Monart Cloisonne style, most likely done in the same way and the inner is very smooth with a rough ground base, has anyone got any other pieces?
Frank:
Found the cats. Appears in 1936 Metalware as model number 2331 but that has no silver plate in. In their plate catalogues for 1920's and 36-9 it does not show. I have a gap from 1930 to 1935 and it must have been introduced in that period. 37 might have been its withdrawal year.
Ivo:
these are not rare, I see them regularly. There is also one in Miller's Glass of the '20s and '30s, page 53.
Frank:
Have you seen the ones with silver plate or those with nickel rims?
RAY:
i've looked in the millers guide and it's say's they should have a liner, but you would struggle putting a liner in due to the mould pattern inside
