Glass fruit bowl
« on: March 21, 2012, 11:11:46 PM »
I have broken a glass fruit bowl which was given to my wife by her brother shortly before he died, so it has considerable sentimental value. It was purchased new in 2003 but I have not retained any details of purchase of manufacture. I am anxious to replace it if possible.  I tried to attach a photo but web site disallowed. Description. - 26 centimetres in width, classical shape with base (footed), thin tube work all over creating an almost leadlight effect with random shape of coloured lustre glass in ruby gold and grey. I would be willing to send a photo attachment to anyone who might be able to help.

Sorry to hear about your predicament.

The file was probably too large, and I'm not much good at explaining how to solve that. If a moderator doesn't get here soon, send a picture to me and I would be happy to post it. You can start an email to me by clicking on the envelope  below my GMB name.

I was looking at something a bit like this on Ebay today - Cristiro Mosaic glass from Romania.  Possible maker?

Here is the listing http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BEAUTIFUL-CRISTIRO-WINE-GLASS-MOSIAC-GLASS-COLLECTION-/260980428248?pt=UK_Art_Glass&hash=item3cc3a54dd8

It's possible that there is more than one company making these kind of things. Here's a wine glass which has a label as follows: "TGMG Hand Made in Romania". The seller mentions Margarita Glass Galleria.

To add to these replies...  ;D

If you type 'milano glass bowl gmg' into Google, several similar styles come up.  So I guess, similar to what Tigerchips says, GMG is another possible maker and 'Milano' seems to be their name for this style.

Max is all Googled out now.   ;)

TGMG appears to be THE GEORGIA MARKETING GROUP INC, an importer & wholesaler of fine Romanian glassware... http://www.fgmarket.com/vendorprofile/the-georgia-marketing-group-inc

I have some tumblers in the same style but they just have a "Made in Romania" label on them.
