Amber(ish) pressed glass posy vase - Bagley 'Bamboo'?
« on: March 31, 2012, 05:44:16 PM »
I have this little posy vase which I'd like to ID.  It reminds me of the Bagley 'Bamboo' pattern, but I can't find any reference to a posy bowl.  Also, the colour isn't like other Bagley amber I have (which is quite bright, almost orange - at least the frosted Bagley items I have are).  Actually, this is a  more caramel than amber.  Star cut base (is that the right terminology?).

43/4" wide by 31/4" high.

And the frog doesn't look right for Bagley either - not domed - but I'd say it's definitely the correct frog for this bowl.

Any help will be much appreciated!
Nancy

It looks like the Jacobean aka Lord pattern. What's the base like? It's not Bagley. Davidson maybe

Thanks Christine.  Here's a close-up of the base with the star pattern.  Who made Jacobean aka Lord?

Is it ground then polished and very shiny or just out of the mould? Inwald and then Davidson made it.

Ground and polished Christine.  Many thanks for the link - quote "There is probably more Jacobean glassware around than any other style of pressed glass."  I've never come across it before(!) but am very pleased to have an id.

Inwald then. It's mostly clear. Now you've seen it you'll see it everywhere

hello - I'm just curious as to whether your Rd. No. might actually be 702446, which was a Clayton Mayer registration from 17th December 1923  -  rather than 702448 :)            I mention this as 1923 was the year in which Clayton first imported 'Jacobean' from Inwald in Czechoslvakia.

The attached pic is Bagley 'Bamboo' in uranium. :)

It looks like an 8 to me Paul, but the house magnifying glass has gone walkies! After reading this thread i followed the leads from it and they seemed to suggest the tumblers were 702446,so i took it that this little vase was reg'd soon after,i wouldn't be surprised if it was a 6 though..
