Could be Czech?  Attached is a jade vase I had by Stolzle which didn't fluoresce.

Thanks for the replies and I quite agree its a beautiful piece of Jade and my 1st piece and I do love the searching you find out so many other interesting bits of info along the way. The Stolze piece looks very interesting I may just take a look in that direction. My collection is get a lot larger than expected and I am learning lots....just ordered the Sowerby CD's I saw mentioned on this site and can't wait to get stuck into those. When I started I just collected by colour 1st was uranium then any green followed by blue eventually I found two huge Cloud glass plates for a £1 each in a charityshop by Davidson and off I with with that. At the moment Walther peach/pink glass is a firm favourite. Its very annoying when Auction houses online identify things wrong but never mind I'm learning all the time....Let you all know if I have any luck with this Jade connection. Thanks everyone

In view of Wayne's comments, I had already looked through the Stolze catalogues shown on Pamela's glas-musterbuch  -  although unable to see anything like this jade vase - but, of course, there may well be other designs not shown - in fact I didn't see any jade - where did Wayne find the Stolze jade?         Perhaps the Mods. will now remove the word Davidson from the subject heading - as might be misleading people into thinking this piece actually is from that British factory.
Having said that - here's my few pieces of Davidson jade - apologies to Simba for hijacking with my pictures - hope you don't object too much. ;)
P.S.   The Sowerby CDs are a very worthwhile buy - and congratulations on finding the charity shope cloud plates.

Paul — Davidson certainly made one or more specials in jade that didn't appear in their known trade catalogues.

One was the Fostoria American pattern cube sugar / preserve, positively identified as Davidson by the inscription, and also made in flint.   We still don't know whether this was a Fostoria mould with an inscription added by Davidson or a very close copy made by Davidson's mouldmaker.   Hopefully in the not too distant future one will make its way over the pond for detailed comparison.   Various scenarios are possible.   My favoured one is that this was a special for a catering retailer who could see both cost savings and improvements in hygiene over the dreadful sticky bowl of sugar on the caff's counter.

Another came up on the GMB, culminating in this comment by Chris:

...   I was wondering if there have been anymore thoughts about when Sowerby made jade? I picked up a jade T2505 9" salad bowl at Swinderby yesterday.

I have observed that this jade is like Davidson jade - it does not fluoresce under UV light.   ...

I don't know why Chris seemed to disregard the possibility that Sowerby sent the mould over to Davidson for a short trial run in jade.

So, I can't see how Davidson can be eliminated, although I agree it's unlikely.

ps — Paul, do you want me to bring my spare jade 283 5" Powder Jar lid tomorrow?   Overall diameter 131mm, outside of locating ridge diameter 108mm.   Please ask as it might not be on display.

thanks Bernard, and would be grateful if you will include the powder jar lid with you tomorrow - I have checked the outside diameter, and agree with your measurements, so it will be the correct match.

Regret I can't add anything of any use to your already informative details regarding Davidson jade patterns - I haven't made an in depth look at the product - rather it's something that I find interesting and attractive, but will have to wait a while before I get around to thinking more seriously about.        However, have to assume that Chris Stewart knows what he's talking about.               Incidentally, did the CD package on Davidson production - that the Stewart's were going to produce - ever materialize?

thanks again. :)

thanks  -  and I assume still not ready, otherwise would imagine it would be publicized here quite quickly  -  perhaps the question might be asked tomorrow.
