Topic: Thick Cased Cylinder Vase with Coloured Inclusions ID Help Please

Sold to me as Scottish but I have no idea what it actually is. Very thick and heavy glass with different coloured inclusions.

I will add the size when I have been downstairs to measure it. Thanks in advance for any ideas.

My thoughts are the same as John's... Czech.  (Maybe Exbor, or a Hora piece  )
Whatever it is, I think it's lovely. A really nice buy, Nemmie.

Lovely vase, lovely inclusions.

I am quite sure it is a Pavel Hlava design for Exbor (cylindrical shapes from this range seem to be less common than the rectangular ones).
I wouldn't worry about the lack of the Exbor acid stamp -- only 2 of my 7 pieces have it...

Well that is happy news as Czech fits within my collecting remit.

It is a lovely piece of glass and I had an inkling it might be Czech but no more than that.

The Exbor stamp may not always have been used, but it is a bit awkward that some Exbor designs from the 60s/70s by Hlava and Lipsky are currently being manufactured again. If one of these looks rather new, it probably is... I personally don't mind so much, for me the design is leading as long as the price reflects that it is repro and not vintage.

Astrid, you are certainly right that some items from this "range" are still in production.
I did check the Egermann catalogues on Jindrich's site before I posted, and the inclusions seem to be much simpler and more uniformely coloured than in Nemmie's piece (and the range seems to be produced in very limited shapes).
So it could have been made anywhere between the 1960s and a few years ago...

This Hlava vase has a Borocrystal mark (reading "Made in Czechoslovakia", so not too recent), but no Exbor acid stamp.
