Czech glass or?
« on: May 12, 2012, 09:32:43 PM »
Hello,

Can someone tell me something about this vase?
I think its an old one because it was a vase of my grandmother.

Thank you very much for your answer/help.

With kind regards,

Yolanda

Welcome to the board Yolanda.

This vase looks Italian to me and I think it contains some uranium glass - the yellow green layer. if it is uranium glass it will glow a bright green colour with UV light (blacklight).

Glass in this style is often known by the Italian term sommerso, (submerged in English) and refers to one colour being contained within another - this vase has amethyst glass surrounded by uranium glass.
