ID for art glass vase ID = William Walker
« on: May 22, 2012, 10:57:30 AM »
A friend bought this vase recently from someone, not sure if they were a glass / antique dealer etc, but was told when they bought it it was by Loetz, which I doubt myself, but I could be wrong, I am not a glass expert.

There is a signature near the base, but I have not been able to identify / interpret the signature and asking for help here, as there are a lot of knowledgeable contributors on the forum.

The signature is two separate words and what looks to be either 86 or 81 (presuming a date)

The vase is 4¾" tall, maximum diameter is 2¾" approximately

There is a snapped pontil and the outer edge appears to have been smoothed,

I have taken two shots of the signature in differing light, it is hard to photograph.

Thank you in advance for any help in identification of this vase.

Thank you Robbo, I thought the second name was Walker, I could not make out the first name.

I will do some more digging for my friend, so they know exactly what the vase is, where it from, age etc

I've attached some photos of a vase of the same form and similar decor.

Lovely vases you have there Robbo, thank you for sharing.

I think this vase has the date 86 rather than 81 after closer inspection, which fits with the second one you posted photos of.

I will pass the info on of the maker and the vase back to my friend.

Thank you again
