Brockwitz Fruit bowls
« on: June 01, 2012, 07:52:43 PM »
Hello there,
I have 2 pieces of Brockwitz glass.

1 is a pink fruit bowl with budgie handles which I understand to be considerably rare.
I notice there are lots of amber and clear coloured available but not many pink ones around.
I'm struggling to find out how I put a date on this piece, please could anyone advise?
I'm guessing between 1903 and 1930.

The second piece is a blue fruit bowl with holly leaf handles, again, I'm unable to put a date on this piece. Again, could it be 1930's
Any information welcomed.

Many thanks in advance

I love the budgie handles vase - I chased a lion handled Brockwitz on eBay last month that went for £200 that was stunning too!!
(sadly I lost)
Out of my budget!!
A lovely piece!!

I love the intensity of those colours.  Is the pink really that deep pink?  I get so used to seeing the peachy pink pressed glass which is not my thing, but I like that deep pink.

Those shades worry me; they look like post-war shades. Did someone make them post-war?

I do have to say my photos often show radically different colour variations depending on where the photo was taken, indoors-sunny day, indoors-overcast day, indoors with lighting/flash, outdoors-sunny day, outdoors-overcast day etc. It seems to affect the pinks especially, particularly making them more or less peach, and the greens too. The type of camera and settings often affect the colours also.

Shades do vary but not that much. I would certainly put these at later rather than 1930s. The 1930s pink is a peachy pink and the 1930s blue is paler.

Hi all
Thinking of selling both of the Brockwitz fruit bowls, is ebay the best place? Cannot find anything on the internet about value, any ideals?
Thanks
Scott.

eBay is pretty good - I buy in there all the time and share your link on the glass forum to attain interest.. I went to an antique fair the other week and it was poor - my other half (who knows nothing about glass) said how "probably it only appeals to a specialist market"

He's probably right xxxx
