Who could have made this Vase? - a Bank holiday Quiz?
« on: June 02, 2012, 06:43:28 AM »
Hi all

Now this might be a trick question?

Who could possible have made this?

This fine vase is signed with an original 'St Denis' gold signature (sorry no signature picture available) -no question that its right and original (both Signature and Vase).

Sorry two or possibly more people, both rare visitors, are banned from the quiz please (you know who you are -A & B).

I will supply the answer Monday or when someone gets it right!

Cheers

Mike

Thanks

For fans of the show QI that probably does get the screaming klaxon noise (sorry)

To be 100% fair I said 'could have made it' and it's theoretically possible they could have made this particular example, but they almost certainly didn't make it.

So who did?

No!

Legras & Cie almost certainly did not make this piece.

Yes it's in their catalogue and their books .....
Yes they sold them with their own signatures on.

They just didn't make most of, or possibly any, of this range themselves!

Anyone else want a try?

Apologies for the temporary withholding of information  - I just thought it was rather interesting and worthy of a few people having a guess.

happy holidays

Mike
