;)
Can't put my finger on what made me think Japanese, but there is something about the balance of the piece I think.
m

...and I got for $ 30.  I would never have guessed that myself either.  I thought it was Czech myself!!!

Did not see this label in the Glass Gallery............?...............

LOL.....

You know me, if I find a piece with a label on it -- I want it.  Plus this was just so Beautiful I could not resist it.  Honest, I love it and AM shocked to by the high Quality.  It must be older Japanese work when quality meant something.  I am wondering IF we will be able to find the individual maker of this item?

Also wondering (in the label) the logo between the words KAMAI GLASS, look like maybe a *S* or something.  Trying to figure out that right now to help date the item, or the maker.  This is just an guess as to the logo design between the words on the label.  Might lead us to some more info

Yes, I could not believe it either.  It does Smell of High class Quality !!!   I will keep my eye(s)  8) open and be on the look-out for you too, if I should stumble upon another one.

Even my Son said it was Beautiful, and he calls my Glass *junk*  :o .......LOL

Rose, the vase is lovely -- great colour combo.

I wonder why Japanese glass is regarded as inferior to glass from other countries...
In one of my books, "60s Decorative Art -- A source book edited by Charlotte and Peter Fiell" (which is a reprint of highlights from the Decorative Art yearbooks from the 1960s), there is lots of Japanese glass, presented at the same level as the big names from Murano, Scandinavia, Czechoslovakia etc.

Maybe if there was more literature on glassworks and designers, Japanese glass would be recognized more widely (similar to Czech glass for several years now).

Perhaps the problem is that outside Japan you only see the really cheap, mass-produced exported stuff?

Ditto.....will have to check out that book!!

I think maybe the older stuff was better now that everyone is mass-market.  I am guessing ??  this might be from the 1960's or so, but that is just a guess on my part.  DO we get mixed up/or is there a difference of the Quality of stuff that comes from *Japan* vs the *Chinese* market?  I am not sure of the answer here on that?

Yes lovely color combo                ;)

FYI, here's another piece of marked  kamei glass.  It's an elegant piece, the yellow swirls around to the top of the vase.  I'm not that keen on the color combination though.  It has a paper label "Kamei America" and also  a blurry, etched "Kamei America" mark.  It's 16" tall.

Thank you Adair for your pic and the label   ;)

I think there is a difference where located and also the date made for your item and mine.  The labels are totally different and from what I found on the Net Kamei America is American, and I think my Kamei is straight from  (Osaka) Japan.

So just kinda share a similar name, but not the same company IMHO as to what LITTLE bit I found on the Net.  I think too that Kamei America is *newer* mass produced glass.

So still searching but since the labels are different - they must be different companies ..... I think   :-\

Though the labels are different, the logo appears to be the same.
