Topic: Mystery vase with folded rim

Well it is a complete mystery to me and I am stumped. I suppose I could have said old but even that is a guess.

Anyway, it is fairly light in weight and 15 cm tall with a neatly folded over rim and a small snapped off pontil mark. The decoration 'floats' on top of the blue glass and gives it a slightly bumpy texture. There is a thin ring of wear but it does not show up well in these photos.

these are just thoughts , not that I know anything at all about Venetian/antique Murano glass.
The shape matches
The size is different being about 3cm taller than yours
The decor is different.
I have only one piece in a similar vein i.e possibly late 19th/early 20thc and it is impeccably made.  I think it's late 19th early 20thc Salviati or Barovier  However, the V&A have said words to this effect (amongst other things)
- whoever made it certainly knew how to copy 16thc glass
- there have been recent reproductions of old glass
And they cannot commit on who made it or date it.

From what I can see this is a complex area     - I'm hoping my newly acquired damaged piece is original but I wont know until it arrives and can see it more clearly -even then I might not know I guess

Thanks for taking a look m. The colours are different, going by their description the decor is the same apart from the lack of silver leaf. Hard to tell from their photograph as it is rather poor with little detail, when enlarged it just blurs.
