Who made this vase with ribbon? (possibly Maltese)
« on: September 01, 2012, 02:45:32 PM »
Hi,

I found this vase in a charity shop, and am trying to trace its origin. I first received the tip that it might be Maltese, looked into it and saw why. As I found the vase at a stone's throw from Isle of Wight, I contacted Isle of Wight Glass, but they didn't recognize it, so it's not by them or by Mdina.

16 cm high, white streaks in transparent vase, and dark orange streaks in clear to orange-tinged ribbon.  It is not signed and had no sticker of origin on it.

Thanks for looking.

Angelina

I forgot to add that I have only been able to find one other vase with a ribbon, so far. It was on Amazon.com, sold by a shop in Nashua, New Hampshire, US.  That vase itself was completely different, however, but the shape of the ribbon looked similar, and at the time, it was the only thing I had to go on. They had only one in stock according to the Amazon site. I contacted the shop a few times, over the web, but received no reply.

Here are some Roubicek vases, designed for Skrdlovice in 1985.  Though, as Ivo mentions, they are similar to your vase, the ribbons on the Skrdlovice pieces are crossed, not knotted.

Sorry I can't be of any more help.
Anik

Completely contemporary Chinese. I've seen them in TKMaxx recently.
