Topic: Cranberry Toby Milk Pitcher - very unusual - Please help

Thanks in advance for any help someone might have identiying this piece.
It is a very old glass pitcher that my grandmother had.  I think she regarded it as a milk jug and said it came from Italy.
When I compare it to the more commonly found toby style milk jugs that are collected today it appears that this was possibly the original style that the others were copied from.

Thats intersting because another Toby in Cranberry was also made by the Kanawha Glass Co. in Kanawha West Virginia & that purplish Cranberry resembles Kanawha's.  Ken

I just looked up the maker you mentioned and found this example:

See, mine looks like it was used as the model for this type of jug.  Mine is finer, hand molded it appears and older and the details are less molded in appearance as the later examples appear to be.

This link shows a lot of examples of the toby style made by Kanawha Glass Co and my toby pitcher is so close to being the original of this style but still so much older and far more delicate and almost apprears to be hand shaped in some ways.

With all due respect while yours is a different style Toby its a bit improbable   that it was the original design "model" for Tobys that followed made by other glass manufacturers worldwide since the Toby design itself is open to whatever manufacturer's design interpretation's that chose to produce them.  Yours is a nice looking good quality Toby though thats for certain.

So far I've found two styles of glass toby pitchers.  The Whitefriars style is slightly different from the one I have.  The picture of the style that is on the right side of my jug in the photos though, appears to have all the attibutes and details of mine as it is clear by the age of mine that this might have been the one used for this style of toby. 

Like I said, I've only seen two styles of glass toby pitchers so far and mine is not as close to Whitefriars as it is almost a precursor to the one I've pictured.

And for sure we are not talking pottery tobies here ! 

Mine, very well could have been the original style used by the Kanawha Glass Co to produce their toby pitchers as it is almost perfectly copied from the style I have.
