Hi all
I have a little information about a lesser known factory Blacksheep Glass, San Diego, California, which I thought I would share.
I have a piece which is believed to be an early paperweight from them and was finding it difficult to get information. After speaking to glass artist James stone (
http://www.stoneandglass.com/), he gave me this information.
"Black Sheep Glass was started by Leslie Wilton, the wife of Paul Wilton who makes premix burners for gloryholes and furnaces. Leslie was one of the very few women who was involved in the second wave of contemporary American Art Glass artists. As you may know, in the beginning there were very few women glass artists allowed into the inner circles of the new field. She was a very prolific and creative glass artist. Someplace around the year 2000 she sold her business to one of her employees named Scott Kempton. He still owns the business but is presently not fired up or making any pieces for Blacksheep. Occasionally Scott jumps in as an instructor in my studio. I speak to him on a fairly regular bases." James Stone

thanks
