Slag Glass Pocket Watch Stand
« on: November 14, 2004, 12:34:49 PM »
Hi,
Can anyone help identify the maker of this slag glass pocket watch stand? It stands 5 inches high and about 4.5 inches wide. Until I bought this one I did not know they were made in glass. Pottery ones are quite common. There was an identical one to this at the recent glass fair – talk about buses all coming at once.

Thanks in anticipation,

Chris

I think it is Sars-Poteries, France. They made lots of purple slag glass articles (I have several of their salt cellars) which are often passed off as unmarked Davidson - and I believe I even saw a picture of the original catalogue page recently in which the watch-stand featured.

Hi Ivo,
Thanks for the information. Do you know if any Sars-Poteries catalogues are available on-line?

Thanks

Chris
