ID help signed paperweight

Hi.  I have a nicely made paperweight with internal shapes like sea anemones made using canes; these have been encased and surface decorated with dragged iridescent loops around the base. Recessed fractured pontil marked, signed in the middle with a name I cannot decipher and 'NSC'.  A fairly large piece : diameter 3 3/8 inch / 86 mm; height 3 inch / 77 mm.

Does anyone recognise the design or signature, or 'NSC' ?

Looks like Peter Layton to my eyes.

Hi Nemmie.

Thanks - it does seem to match some Peter Layton signatures in other threads on GMB.

Hi Alan.   It looks like a piece by Norman Stuart Clarke, who worked with Peter Layton.  Hence Peter's signature and the NSC.

I think it is a very early one. Almost antique! around 1977/8 I would guess. Pieces signed with both names are probably rare.

Hi

Very grateful for all the helpful replies. I have to admit I would have remained in complete ignorance without them - thank you GMB (and Nemmie, Keith and Adam).
