Crackle (?) iridescent glass vase id help please?
« on: April 14, 2013, 10:02:57 PM »
Hi I have an unmarked vase with a highly textured surface like crackle glass and a high iridescence between the recesses showing multiple colours. There is a subtle chalk like finish to the raised textured parts of the vase. No pontil mark to the base, but the shape of the base reminds me of Royal Brierley Studio Glass. The interior glass is a single dark blue block colour. It stands 8" tall and is just over 7" width across the widest point. The person who I purchased this from said that he brought it in the 70's but that was all he could remember about it. Does anyone know what this is please? Thanks :)

Interestingly I saw one of these last week at the antiques centre where I have a cabinet. It seemed well made and it weighed a ton. The glass was too thick to let light through

Chriss, I suppose it is a recent purchase from Ebay. I was the underbidder.... Anyway, I don't know the maker.

Wonder if its a relative of this one I have. Photo was taken under a bright light to show detail, however in normal light it appear to be the close to the one posted only in green &  a different shape. Mine also shows multiple colors & a chalk like effect in normal light.

Yours looks quite shiny Ken. The one I saw was quite matte looking - almost the kind of thing you'd mistake for ceramic without seeing the top edge

There are three topics on the board about Cozeta/Ozeta glass.  They seem to be a current maker in Murano that makes "ancient" style glass objects.  The finishes vary considerably and there label could be easily removed.

Hi all
Lustrousstone is there any possibility of finding out anything about the glass in that cabinet please? Thankyou :))
brain_11 , no I'm afraid it wasn't me on ebay, i purchased it a while ago from a dealer that I know who was running a stall at a local antique and collectors fair in the Midlands, I don't know how much the vase on ebay went for but i never paid much for this one :) He bought it in the early to mid 70's and thought that it was new at the time, but can't remember anything else about it. He is a general dealer and not into glass at all. I thought it may be Royal Brierley Studio glass because of the shape of the neck and recess to the base but that was just a guess ??? I don't know if it's the same as the one johnphillip mentions as I can't find it but would love to see a picture or the ebay item number or any other info that i could look into to get more info if possible to either ebay listings please? :)

The glass that Ohio has is very similar to my centre piece purchased last year from Ebay which i put a question out about it's id before with no luck that time -
'Iridescent glass centre piece info please?'
but I think that it may be a Kralik piece as to me, there is a similar(ish?) shade listed as number 20 here ?  https://sites.google.com/site/loetzandglass/kralik-1a--id-by-shape

The glass on my vase is quite thick and no light can get through it, but the one on the link by Tezlar76 looks see through to me, but i could be mistaken? (thankyou though :D)
Ahremch I am not doing very well with finding the threads on this message board that you mentioned, is there any chance of sending me a little more info please?
Thanks very much to all for your help though, much appreciated :))
