Carnival
« on: May 14, 2013, 02:51:33 PM »
We have collected glass for many years!
Mainly cut glass, some pressed, a little Murano, slver and gilded Italian, Bohemia ancient and modern , Davidson, Sowerby all sorts from everywhere!
Over the years we have had a deal of Carnival pass through our home and only a small amount has stayed here.
We know next to nothing and so for a change we decided to learn a little and bought some books, hauled out the few pieces we have left and ......... Help !
We have only provisionally identified two pieces and so I am hopefully going to be helped by all the extremely knowlegeable folk on here.
First what I think is Fenton, but is it and what date ?
Then a little group including some more modern on which we have no info at all!
At the risk of boring you folks my next post will have a couple or so more

Here is the group!
The Thistle appears to be Canning and the darker yellow/marigold triangular is unusual in that the moulding is all on the outside.

The "green base" piece is Fenton's Persian Medallion, and the bowl with the basketweave back is Northwood. This web site would be of great help to you:

Lovely pieces! Would you please just post one item per topic so we can keep track of which item we are discussing? :)

Thank you James and also Anne. [I will note your instructions!]
The website is a treasure house and will indeed be useful if I can ever find my way around it!
The Persian medallion I looked at previously was different to the green base piece above and as none of ours have any makers marks I was reluctant to attribute makers.
With no marks can I call the green Fentons or the Brown grape vine with basket back mould Northwood or can they be copies produced by others?
The Blue in the first post that I thought looked so like Fentons again has no marks but now appears like the Duggan vintage grape pattern
I am so confused!
