Topic: fish bowl, leech pot or flower vase?

I would welcome opinions on whether these are fish bowls, leech pots or flower vases. About 15 cm tall and 17 cm diameter.

seed pots. Closed of with a cork, tied with muslin and stored upside down.

Correct these are for storage.

I can't imagine anything so large and heavy is for seeds, or for turning upside down.

The 1906 Leune catalogue has 'bocaux à Graines" from 60 grammes to 2000 grammes.

My guess would be to exclude oxygen.

You can store chilled stuff from the supermarket upside down.  It will probably keep a lot longer, but you run the risk of encouraging the growth of lethal ANaerobic nasties like listeria (although they shouldn't be in your pasteurised cream and yoghurt to begin with), so it is most certainly not recommended!
