Vintage Chechoslovakia Blue Glass Vase ID?
« on: May 19, 2013, 07:46:49 PM »
I have a beautiful blue glass vase that my Grandmother gave me.  She purchased it before 1950.  On the bottom it is etched "czechoslovakia".
It is transparent and in excellent condition.  The vase is 7" tall, 2 3/4" at the base and 7 1/2" across the top.  I would like to learn any information about it and what its value may be.
Thank you!

Hello,

Can you upload a picture from the etched description? Is it 'Czehoslovakia' or 'Tchehoslovakia'?
Thanks,
Zsuzsa

Hi, I can see the mark on your vase and it is an arched mark. It also appears to be a stencil style mark with a split O used in the mark. This style of mark indicates that the item was produced by Kralik. If the spelling involves a T at the start, then it simply indicates it was marked for export into France. Either mark in this style would indicate Kralik as the production house.

Your vase is interwar production between WWI and WWII, and likely was produced in the late 20's or possibly early 30's.

Hope this helps,

Pretty vase, Nice Color.... I like the fluted body.....

After looking closely at the bottom etching, it says "c z c c h o s l o v a k i a".  I believe that the letter after the "z" is meant to be an "e".  Due to the way it was etched, the top of the "e" was not closed.
I hope this helps!
Does anyone have an idea of what it is worth?
Thank you all again!

Craig,
Thank you for the suggestion!  I will see if I can research "kralilk".  I would like to sell it, so am trying to put together a good description and get an idea of its value.
Thank you again!
Ann

You might try looking on ebay or other sales venues. Generally most people here do not discuss values.
Glad I could help.

Hello,

Craig was spot on!  ;)
It was produced for the French export from the 20's-40's.
Have a nice day!
