Topic: Help with id if possible please-2 objects

Hi, back to enquire about a couple of pieces again ! Can anybody identify the signature on the small blue crackled glass vase ? It looks like Frank Glenn but we have Googled that with no luck. The other little clear item is about the size of an egg cup. The only function we can think of for it is as a candle holder. its simple but attractive. Any ideas who may have made it ?

The second one could be a table lighter. No clue about the sig on the first.

Your signature looks like it could be Peter Layton but I don't recognise the crackle decor.  Can we have a better picture of the vase please ? or is it a very very flat circular vase?

I feel sure Peter Layton is a definite possible for the sig on your vase.

The shape of the vase is similar to a shape I have but mine has a small neck and rim.
The flattened slightly off circular shape is the same
I don't know enough about his output to know whether he did pieces in this range - but mine is signed on the side and has a beautifully ground flat base rather than it being polished. However mine is an early piece I think done in the 80's if I recall and things and time move on in terms of ranges and design
I think it's worth writing an email to him to ask.

I'm also inclined to think the clear piece is a match striker/holder.         I wonder when such things were last made?     Most are of some substantial age  -  those spherical examples with the horizontal threading/moulding are the ones that are seen quite commonly, and some have a Sterling silver band.
Is there wear on the base of this piece??

Hi, again thanks for the info. Much as I would like to believe the signature on the vase is Peter Layton, Ive looked at it closely and compared it to Laytons signature but cannot see that they are the same. I may drop them an email as you suggest but I think the reply is likely to be negative. With regards to the 'match pot' there is some wear to the base but otherwise its very fresh. I thought it was a relatively recent object but I guess it would have had its day with the advent of lighters.
