Little Bird Sculpture - Maybe Loetz or Bohemian?
« on: July 16, 2013, 02:43:27 AM »
Hello Everyone,
I came across this little guy and just had to buy him.
At first thought it could be a Murano piece, maybe by Avem. Now after showing it to a collector friend she said it might be Loetz or Bohemian? I have seen some overshot glass design on some of the rare Loetz swan vases, so I can see how it could be.
Anyone have an idea if this could be the case?

Thank you for looking and helping me out.
Regards,
Javier

Forgot to mention...

The entire piece is 6 1/2" long x 4" tall, and the bird does have gold flecks in it.

Javier,  it is a gorgeous little bird.
I have never seen one like this before, but will do my best to see what I can find out for you.... then I would like you to know that there is just about enough space in my cabinet for it if you decide to sell it!!   :)

This is a Loetz swan. Just adding it as a point of reference really.
Your bird is superb :)
Completely off the wall but the first thing I thought of when I saw it, were the egg vases attributed to Pallme Koenig.  It's not the same at all I know, but instinctively that was what sprung to mind :) maybe the colours and the frit or something.  However I've not been able to find either PK or Loetz or Kralik that had gold leaf  :-\
I'll have a look at my books in the morning and see if anything springs out.

Thank you very much for the links flying free!

The gold on the bird is what made me think Italian in the first place, but it is so unusual that I wanted to give my friends theory a chance.
I am still searching for the Avem connection on my end.
Either way, I will not be disappointed. The bird is too adorable! :)
