Small uranium glasses on stems.
« on: July 31, 2013, 03:08:17 PM »
Hi, I bought this pair of small uranium glasses on the carboot for 10p each. They have a Rd no. on the base 277168. The photo shows them as green but they really are more yellow. They are quite roughly made, and one is slightly taller than the other. They stand about 10cms tall. I know nothing about them so any info would be lovely please.  Thanks  Cheryl.

Nice find Cheryl, and unusual to find these things with an Rd. No.            No. 277168 was registered to Jules Lang & Co. on 4th June 1896.

Rather than me attach various links, you'll find information on this company if you punch their name into the search facility. :)

Thanks Paul and Christine. As Jules Lang are the importers of glass ware I don't suppose we can tell where they actually came from. Nice to find something with a bit of age to it and they don't take up much room!!!!     Cheryl

They distributed as well; my guess for these would be English. A gut feeling based on the uranium colour and the slightly ropy quality. Don't quote me though
