Green decanter, zodiac figures, Italian
« on: August 25, 2013, 04:04:09 PM »
Good morning!

This is an ornate green decanter owned by a friend of mine.  It says "Made in Italy" on the bottom and it has zodiac signs around the base.  I haven't handled it myself so I can't tell you much more than that but there is a hand in the picture to help with scale.

My first thought was Empoli (because of the colour) but as it appears to be moulded and not blown, I wasn't sure.  Did Empoli mould glass as well as blowing it?  He has done some research and it also comes in blue.  It was bought at a rummage sale in 1988.

Can anyone shed any light?

Many thanks

Santa

All the Empoli bottles like this are blown into a mould. I would say almost certainly Empoli
