Topic: Clear glass, cog shaped, what? Candle holders?

I have a pair of mystery items I am hoping you knowledgeable folks can help me with!

They are clear glass, heavyweight, could be holders for big candles or small bowls perhaps. About 6cm high.

They have a 'cog' type shape - but not as pronounced as Sklo's Cog.

Each protuberance has a flat bit on the widest edge (if that makes sense).

Any ideas for maker? Age? or even what they are?

There are no seams, labels or makers marks to help us.

Please let us know the sizes of your items, both diameter and height.

Also, what error message do you get (for the "crashing") when you try to add your photos here?

These votives are mass produced somewhere - but I cannot tell you where. We see a lot of these on the market. I guess it is from Pasabahce or Arques - or from a similar large scale manufacturer.

Thank you gents, I guess I had a feeling they might be mass-produced and quite recent, I just picked them up initially because I liked the shape. They are about 6cm high and 7cm across the gap.

When I try and upload pictures the site just seems to time out and return to the blank 'new thread' page. I guess my pictures are too big. I know there is a thread on here somewhere about posting pictures, I'll have to have a hunt!

Hello Nikki-Jane, welcome to the board.

It sounds like a size issue. There are two limits you need to observe: one is the file dimensions - under 1000 pixels is needed, around 700 or 800 along the longest edge works well. The other is the file size in kb...  the limit is 125kb per image, but if you can make them less than around 110-115kb that usually works well (it allows for what is called overhead on the file.)

if these were older we would recognise them as pressed glass preserve pots or similarly shaped as a component of a early 20c dressing table set

I don't know... does anybody use preserve pots these days?
