about 12" tall iirc (no tape measure), the green is very limey bright although the photo dulls it unfortunately.
Mould blown, cut rim, very neatly finished base with spots going right under the base. Spots have been marvered in and it isn't cased over.
The snake is also opaline but has been covered in dark crimson elongated spots so you can only see it's opaline inside right at the mouth of the snake.  The whole body is done with the crimson spots marvered onto the opaline but they merge together so make it look as though it's totally 'cased' in crimson.
The shape of the neck flare and up to the rim reminds me of a Rindkopf martele vase I've seen, but the opaline I thought is very similar to Kralik pieces I've seen (I'll try and find a link in a mo to show the similarity of the body).
Link here - the photo I took is on black and the opaline isn't quite as transparent as these in the link but it is very transparent contrary to what it might look like in my photo.

more links below to Kralik pieces that I think have similarities to my vase
Any thoughts much appreciated.

Although not written in stone, Kralik is not known for doing snakes, and I am referring to ones that have eyes and a head as this one appears to..... That certainly does not mean they never did.  I can not remember an example of a coil of any kind by Kralik with this sort of decor on the coil or snake itself.

Rindskopf did do snakes, and the size is kind of like Rindskopf, as they appeared to like making larger pieces.... The colors and decor are a little different for them, at least as far as we think we understand their production.....

It is a great piece of qlass though.....  The colors and shape are fabulous.....

Not much help I am afraid....

Keith - yes I also thought it was similar to the corded pieces, something about the shape of them and their rims as well - however they all appear to have some iridescence and this one doesn't so I didn't do a link to those, but it's yet another 'similarity'with Kralik pieces :)
Craig, thanks :) I can see your point - but so far everything I've looked at has similarities with Kralik pieces but not with Rindskopf strangely.  The only other vague similarity to Rindskopf that I could pick up on is the colour combination of the dark red and green which seems to be a combination they liked using.
I wonder if this might turn out to be the first Kralik vase with a snake lol.

I wonder if this pair share the same maker? I have seen these candlesticks or perhaps vases in a few different colours which include blue frit on the base. The green snakes are not uranium glass, height is around 6" or 7" (16-18cm).

ooh I like those John :)
the way the base of the foot on yours angles in slightly reminds me of something ... maybe Welz vases?

Perhaps neither yours nor mine are Kralik?
Yours reminded me of some of the Kralik corded pieces but without the iridescence the opaline looks different - the white opaline on the Kralik corded looks thicker somehow... slightly different not sure how to explain but it does.

I've added a pic of mine that I took against white background.  It bleaches out the green on the vase but it does show how transparent mine is as you can see the snake through the opaline hopefully.

Perhaps contacting Poschinger might be an option? They did similar shapes in Tango if I remember correctly...  :-\

I'll come back if I get any more info.
