Topic: Monart/Vasart/Strathearn light shade?

Never posted here so please excuse any failure to follow the normal form.

After buying a lovely old Victorian villa in Perth my wife and I discovered a lightshade in the diningroom that was unusual to us. Photos attached.

The house was with a previous family for decades and many period features were retained.

A friend of ours has indicated that it might be Monart/Vasart or similar - but looking at the online resources and images I can't see anything like it. I was hoping that one of the experts on here might illuminate us (pun intended!)?

It might be that it is just a fake etc, but regardless it is a beautiful item in excellent condition and the brass chains and fittings etc do seem rather old. I can't see any identification marks on it at all.

Welcome to the board. It's a genuine period lamp, though not Victorian and not Monart, Vasart or Strathearn. 1940s/50s seems more likely and although this sort of lampshade is pretty common, though yours is slightly unusual colours, I never seen any indication of who made them. Somebody else may know

Hi Warky welcome to the board.
First the bad news, your shade is not Monart, Vasart or Strathearn. The good news is that it is not fake, IMHO it is a period piece (1930s/40s) by unknown maker.

Although not Ysart glass, it is a lovely and very functional shade to have been left. I do hope you enjoy it.

There is a nice selection of Ysart glass in the Perth Museum, if you are interested - and if you get very interested, you can ask for appointments to see the stuff that is in storage as well...
Perth is a lovely city - I hope you are very happy there!

It's very similar to the one in my house which apparently was in from new (house was built 1948) ...
