Viannes lamp - no French forum?
« on: October 11, 2013, 07:03:29 PM »
I couldn't find a forum for French glass, so I hope Viannes aficionados are lurking here.  A web search yielded Viannes cameo lamps and pate de' vere mushroom lamps.  But nothing like this.  Wondering if the had a name for this line, when it was made  and is it worth cleaning up the fittings?  DW and I are going from 5 bedroom home to a 2 bedroom just down the street - this will be one of the victims of downsizing.

Thanks for taking a look.
Ken

Just a thought, if all searches lead to lamp shades/coolies, could the label possibly be off of a shade it once had and just misplaced at some point?

I did find Vianne lamps in cameo glass and pate' de vere glass mushroom lamps.  Just nothing like this.  At 16" tall, I have a hard time picturing the glass Vianne shade on this lamp.  Thanks so much for taking the time to share your thoughts.

Hello,

I wondered wether this lamp ever came with a glass shade, it would have been enormous in size.

Here same model, different decor...one image with a normal shade....

Thank you for the link.  That is the same shape.  Note the "Taille Main" sticker.  My google translator calls this "size hand."  Perhaps a proper translation is "hand made"?  I did find Vianne glass shades of the same coloration called "Tan Moire", so I think is is all nailed down.  Thank you .

Thank you, Anne.  Obviously, my lamp is not hand cut, but the one in the link surprises me.  Certainly would have thought the cameo lamp was acid cut back rather than hand cut.
