Tumblers
« on: October 14, 2013, 04:55:12 PM »
I bought this clear tumbler as a byproduct of a lot of glass. It is made of lead glass (nice ring, tested wuith uv) and is decorated with vine leaves and grapes wheel engraved round the top. The base is quite thick and shows signs of lots or wear. The base has a ground out pontil mark. Any thoughts on date?

Also in the lot was the red tumbler which is a really deep red colour.  The base has been polished and shows signs of wear. I believe it is lead glass. At sometime I think it has had the name George A Short gilded on it but this has been worn away - in the right light at the right angle the writing is just readable. For it's size it feels heavier than one might expect. Any ideas on age?
