A frosted blue glass lidded pot in the shape of an elephant.  8 inches long x by 4 inches high x 3 inches wide. Unmarked.

Any ideas as to the manufacturer and the date of manufacture, please?

Hello

This looks like the small Co-operative Flint Glass No. 554 Elephant introduced in 1927.  They were located in Beaver Falls, PA, USA.  After Co-op shut down in 1934, the small elephant mould went to Erskine Glass Co. and then to Indiana Glass Co. and now reportedly somewhere in Taiwan or China.

These are pretty common in the UK, so it's more than likely modern. They're often seen without the lid too

Hi,
I recently acquired the same or similar shaped elephant covered container. I did quite of research but could not find the same color. Not sure how to describe it. It seems to be crystal, stained ( is that the correct term?) in pinkish purplish with bluish and greenish splashes. 
From what I've learned so far the original was done by Co-op in 1927. Reproduced by the Consolidated Lamp and Glass Company in the late 1920's. Then by Erskine Glass, Indiana for Tiara and lastly by somewhere in Asia.

 Any help with figuring the correct maker and period of production?

You can scratch Consolidated Lamp and Glass Company off your list...they never had this mold. What happened is one reference incorrectly listed the Co-Op Flint large 13" elephant lamp to Consolidated. Evidently they figured since it was a lamp it had to be Consolidated. The others are correct. The other player is the Asian copy that appeared in the early 90s. Your color does not match up in any way with those originally produced by Co-Op Flint, or colors reissued by Erskine or Indiana/Tiara. It appears to be some type of carnivalized stain so I am left with the ones that came from asia.
