La Mediterranea Viking Vase?
« on: November 26, 2013, 02:01:47 AM »
Hello! Newbie here,

My sister picked up this curious specimen from hard rubbish in Melbourne, and we were curious as to what its story might be. The inner tier lifts out (and honestly, we're not even sure the two pieces are supposed to be together - but they seem to fit so well) and has a hole in its base. The outer layer has a solid base, no holes.

I inquired on an ebay message board and someone kindly clarified the La Mediterranea label - hand made in Spain, which led me to a similar listing in Florida, that the seller was calling a Viking Vase. I've not been able to find any similar pieces using those terms in Google image search, and was hoping that someone here may have more specific information about the piece.

Any information at all would be appreciated,
Thanks for reading
Pat.

La Mediterranea is a large spanish company producing household and decorative items from recycled glass. They have been kn the market since I think the late eighties.
Someone in Florida mmay have misattributed the item to Viking glass to which this has only a nodding relationship.
