just to add to this thread, I thought the style, finish and colours in my vase were similar although reversed to the OP.

I had always had this down as Bohemian and possibly Harrach too although trawling my books and web has never found a comparable one

any thoughts?

Mel

I think so too.  I'll try and get a look through my books later and see if there is a shape match there for either of them.

Ivo, I had thought of Sevres as well - but I remember looking up your vase and finding absolutely nothing on it. Nothing anywhere.  And I think the colours of your vase would lean more to French but the colours of this could be either do you think?
Also that rim?  cut and bevelled and polished - would that fit with a Sevres piece - I've seen the wide straight sided bowls that I think have that rim,  so maybe it would?

I have two clear glass examples of very similar vases and both are Stourbridge pieces. If i had picked these two vases you have posted in local charity shops car boots or flea market's i would sell these on as Stourbridge pieces, thats the problem there is not much info on this type of glass, but this begs the question, why do these pieces turn up so often around where i live, why on earth would they be importing glass into one of the most prolific glass making area's in the world where millions of tons of the stuff was being exported every year? lovely vases by the way.

I'm probably totally wrong but its just that cut and polished rim doesn't sit right with me for being English.  I've always felt this and made a point of looking at every vase in the Broadfield House when I was there last year and couldn't spot one piece with a cut and polished rim.  However Glassobsessed (John) posted a pretty vase a few months ago with that type of rim and Mervyn Gulliver iirc told him it was English and I think by Stevens and Williams??? I was surprised.
So yes, I'm probably totally wrong  ;D
