ExBor Glass Bear Sculpture Shown in 1969 Catalog
« on: December 27, 2013, 03:49:44 AM »
I recently purchased a heavy glass bear with the ExBor acid mark on the bottom.  I finally found it pictured in the 1969 catalog.  Please let me know how rare these are and any estimate on the value of the piece.  Thanks.

That link doesn't work for me.

Best method is to upload the pictures to the board.

Here is a picture from the 1969 ExBor catalog if you still can't view using the link.

Hi and welcome to the board!
Thanks for uploading your pics dircetly to your thread.

Your Exbor piece is very nice, a pic against a plain white background would be good to see the colours better.
Dimensions would be interesting, too.

There are no valuations given on the board, as they are far too subjective; best way to learn about an approximate value is to watch auctions or search finished auctions of similar pieces.

I would think it is a rather uncommon piece, and the "Exbor Czechoslovakia" stamp usually adds to the interest, as those animals were produced for decades...

Michael

Sorry about the valuation question, I asked because I haven't seen one like it on eBay or anywhere else.  It was very hard to photograph, I will try it against a white background and post a new picture with dimensions.

No problem.

I did a little more research, and found this in >> Czech Glass Revue 1970/11 on Jinrich's great site.
Obviously your fish (not bear) was designed by Rene Roubicek, which adds quite a bit to its desirability ;)
