Topic: yugoslavian glass id

Hi all,i found this piece recently,it stands about 11"with a flat polished base,when i first picked it up i thought it was Czech but on looking at the label saw the word Yugoslavia and even i can take a hint.Anybody got a clue to the factory it was made in,many thanks.

Got the magnifying glass out and studied the label and i think it was made in Prokuplje, by a company called FS,in Serbia.It's quite heavy and could be inspired by a flowering bulb it certainly has an organic look about it,i wonder if the design may date it more precisely?

With Yugoslavia (but not if Federal Republic of Yugoslavia) it will be pre 1992.

Really can't find much on FS,if that is their name,a couple of bits on the intoe looking nothing like this one,i'm going to try to find out if the cold war eastern block countries shared designers.

   Just as an add on,the FS label on the other pieces i found were round and a yellow colour i think,this one's silver, it looks older somehow but it could easily be the other way around.

mentions that "Glass Plant '9. oktobar' and 'Univerzalpromet' were bought from liquidation same as the cotton processing factory"
so it would be either of those.

Indeed, there used to be a glass factory called "9. oktobar" in Prokuplje. For that matter, not the most prominent one, there are others that are much more renowned for their products.
Not a bad piece, btw – 60s, maybe early 70s, I would say.

I'm afraid it would be nearly impossible the determine that now - they have gone out of business more than 10 years ago and I don't think their archive is in good shape now. The last thing I managed to discover is that after bankruptcy they switched to windshield repair, but apparently that hasn't worked out either.

I thought that maybe the case,it was just it looked familiar,i guess designers are always looking over each others shoulders.
