help - green glass vase with some age
« on: January 19, 2014, 09:30:25 PM »
There are no maker's marks on this vase, it does appear to have some age and is fairly light in weight.

Any ideas of origin or age would be greatly appreciated?

Welcome to the board.

A couple of questions...

How tall is it? Is that an etched mark on the foot - right hand side third photo - or is it just my imagination?

John

Hello John, thank you.

the vase is 12 inches in height, the mark to the foot is a quirk/air bubble from when it was made.

any thoughts you have would be great.

I don't know, which is why I am asking questions. ;D

The shape looks kind of 'classical', quite 'Mediterranean'. Are those tiny little air bubbles in the glass and is it really green because it looks yellow from here?

yes, it is green, the pictures were taken in night light.

I feel is it is continental as you say, there are numerous air bubbles and manufacturing quirks and it is light in weight.

Ok, a photo showing the colour well might help. Take a photo of it in daylight with a plain white background, a couple of pieces of plain paper works fine for that.
